Most people know the main kinds of paint like watercolor, acrylic, and oil and some art enthusiasts know fancier terms like pastels and impressionism. Nevertheless, most people enjoy looking at beautiful flowing paintings, rich with color and emotion.
Now what if there was a way to make the joy and happiness of painting stay with you even when you leave the art museum? Well guess what, there is.
It’s called SCREEN PRINTING!
Print almost any design you want with this amazing art form. Learn all about the new club at Welsh Valley!
This new club is called the Welsh Valley Printer’s Guild. It was started one faithful day in September 2024 by club leader and owner and also 5th and 7th grade art teacher, Ms. Kayla Wallitch.
When I interviewed her about the ideas for origin, she said, “Well I have been working at Welsh Valley for a few years and I noticed that we weren’t selling a lot of gear. I also have a background in screen printing and a bunch of students that are great at designing stuff.” Since then, the sales of WV gear has been way higher. “We’re at a 100% increase!” Said Ms. Wallitch, jokingly.
The process of screen printing is long and tedious. It starts with an idea, as most great things do. Someone creates a design to print and draws it in pencil.
Next, they outline it in all black sharpie and erase pencil lines. The next step is a little harder. The simple way to say it is to make a stencil is to print out a design and then put it on special transparent paper and expose it to a different light to make it work.
Finally, pick out something to print on like a shirt or tote bag and print till your heart’s content!
To conclude, the Welsh Valley Printer’s Guild is a group of 16 students who know what they’re doing.
Whenever you see a piece of our work, be sure to thank Ms.Wallitch or any of our amazing members for making it possible.
