Recently, Welsh Valley hosted Lower Merion School District’s Superintendent Dr. Yann. He came to the library during I/E. He was the opening member of the all new Welsh Valley Speaker Series.
Dr. Yanni talked about his career path and his past as an elementary school teacher. He started his career in Bucks County and has since then became the superintendent of our very own LMSD. One question he was asked was “How do you plan to solve the bus driver crisis”, he responded that the district is advertising for new bus drivers and implementing an almost seamless process while applying for the job. He was also asked about the most challenging parts of his job. He said that the hardest part was collecting feedback about how to improve the district and the struggle of when you can’t please everyone’s needs. He was also asked about his favorite experiences. He responded by telling the students one of his most astonishing memories that really shows us what special bonds are made in school. While teaching Dr. Yanni had two kids for two years in a row and later on in life and he was able to watch them grow up together and later end up marrying. Another important question he was asked was, “How do you think the new start times will affect elementary school students who will now get out at 3:45 and have activities which start at 4:00” he responded by stating that he will get feedback from the elementary school parents and then make further decisions.
This past Wednesday our school district’s Superintendent Dr. Yanni came to the library during I/E. He was the opening member of the all new Welsh Valley Speaker Series. The Welsh Valley Speaker Series is for any adults who would like to come to our school and talk about their careers, answer any questions about how their job works, and what they think about controversial topics in their workplace.
