As you know, Valley TLC just performed Frozen Jr. for the spring musical. I hope those who came enjoyed the show! Maybe you are even interested in auditioning next year.
I interviewed Ms. Lam, director of the musical, to give you an inside look on Valley TLC.
The questions and her responses are below:
What is your favorite part/song in the show? Why?
My favorite song is “Dangerous to Dream”. I think the melody is so beautiful! My favorite part of the show is “Love is an Open Door” because the actors on stage look like they are having so much fun dancing the choreography.
What’s your favorite part of being a director?
I love seeing how students’ confidence grows throughout the rehearsal process. My favorite part is seeing people make their Valley TLC debuts. It’s always so meaningful to see students push themselves out of their comfort zones and realize that performing is fun!
What would you say was the most challenging part of the show for you and the cast/crew?
We have so many students involved in the show that it can be difficult to manage at times. All of the choreography, blocking, and music assignments have to be planned in advance of rehearsal and it can be a lot of work.
What is it like behind the curtain before/during the shows?
There is a lot of excitement backstage before any performance – but I feel like it is heightened in the theater! We work as a team for weeks and everyone feeds off of each others’ energy. Valley TLC has a strong sense of community which contributes to the collective excitement. We typically have to work to keep ourselves calm so that we can focus once the curtain opens.
Thanks to all the directors, custodians, cast, crew and everyone involved in the show! It was well done and I’m sure everyone enjoyed it!
